As a first time parent, I deal with issues as they come up without knowing when to expect them. Sometimes I know what to do. Mostly, however, I have no idea whatsoever.Like now, for instance, my darling boy is eating his breakfast. Well, he is playing more than eating. No biggie. We’ve been there before. I can even handle his cleaning of the table as well.
I assume by this point he is full. He has already eaten a banana and two bowls of cereal. Here’s the kicker, though: He is no longer hungry, yet he insists on me giving him another full bowl of milk and cereal even though he won’t eat it.
This frustrates me to no end. It doesn’t happen only once or twice. I could deal with that. Maybe even just let it go. I can’t do that when it’s every. single. day.
Not only is he wasting the food, but he also thinks it’s perfectly okay. I don’t like wasting things unnecessarily, especially because the goat milk he drinks is really expensive, as is his organic cereal. Even without having costly foods, waste is still waste. Throwing away perfectly good food has no justification.
I have absolutely no idea what to do about this. Nothing I say gets through to him. Day after day, I dump out the full bowl, wondering what I could possibly do differently. Until then, I suppose I am going to keep trying what I can.
