Choo-choo has moved on to a new phase in life now. Everything is “I didn’t know.”
For example, we have been working with Choo-choo on his potty training. (More about that, with some WONDERFUL news, another day!) I put him in bed for a nap one day only he was still awake after about ten minutes. This usually indicates that he has a wet or dirty diaper and needs to be changed.
I walked upstairs and, as I suspected, he was wet. “Choo, you are supposed to call down to us before peeing in your diaper.”
Then his reply: “I didn’t know.”
Uh, yeah you did, buddy.
We have told you this many times every single day since we started potty training you what now seems like eons ago. You knew. You just either forgot or intentionally “forgot.”
So, it’s official: Choo-choo has activated his selective hearing.
I just keep thinking, it’s too early for this! I mean, isn’t that not supposed to kick in until the sassy, “I know everything and you don’t” pre-teen years? Then again, my son is definitely a threenager.
And while I love him more than I have ever loved anyone else, more than anyone else could love him, he is such a little stinker sometimes. And the real teenage years haven’t even started yet. *Sigh*
Is it too soon to start planning his college tours???
