What do dreams mean? Do they mean anything at all?
Often, my dreams take place in one of two locations: my parents’ current house (where they have lived since I was 13) in mostly quiet, forest-like woods with a long, winding gravel/dirt driveway and my grandparents’ old house (currently my bio dad’s house). Just the other day, I was getting Choo-choo ready for another naptime. He went potty, we brushed his teeth, and I gave him a small cup of water to drink. I also let him stand in the kitchen and drink from his water bottle since I knew he’d ask for water as soon as we climbed into bed. I assumed giving him water downstairs would nip that upstairs thirst, or “thirst” aka stalling, in the bud.
As I make my way through life right now, even with shyness and depression and fears galore, I feel like I am finally becoming me again. I have dreams I am working toward. I have goals I want to reach. I know where I’d like to be five years from now.
On Saturday, Choo-choo, Diesel, and I drove to my hometown for my youngest sister’s high school graduation open house. Her party was held in the very same place I had my open house 15 years ago. I have to say, there was an instant feeling of strangeness when I first walked in and saw the familiar red, black, and white decorations. I had celebrated my freedom in the same room she did.
