Now that the holiday is over, I feel composed enough to talk about the stress Thanksgiving (and all holidays) brings. There’s the recipe search, cooking, getting everyone ready, trying to be on time, and so on. In the past, I’ve exhausted myself trying to figure out the perfect recipes to make, I’ve burnt the food, and we have never arrived on time. (And I’m not even the hostess. I can’t imagine how much more stressful that duty is!)
But this time, I had a plan. Not only did I have a plan, but Continue reading “The time I beat holiday stress…”
As I write this, Choo-choo and Diesel are in the other room playing (loudly!) and having fun. (Though I’m not sure how fun it is for my husband when our son keeps taking all the toys away from him…)
I love times like this when they can bond with each other. Even though Continue reading “The two loves of my life”
So, you already know the first few days of last weekend, when Diesel, Choo-choo and I were on our last camping trip of the year. Here’s the rest of the story:
The Seriously Ugly:
Because I was sobbing, Choo-choo began sobbing. “Why are you crying, Mommy?” he asked between sobs. I couldn’t even answer him.
It was such a big mess in that truck with me crying, Choo-choo crying, and Diesel silently fuming. Then Continue reading “About that weekend vacation… (Part 2)”
So, remember how I told you about the awful ending to our weekend? Well, here are all those details you wanted:
Things started off well before we even left. Diesel had the whole trip planned out, which is a huge deal. I like having vacations scheduled to the hour or even minute. Diesel, on the other hand, is a free spirit when it comes to travel. He likes to be as spontaneous as possible. The fact that he had an activity planned for us every day of this trip was amazing!
With help from both of our parents, we were packed and ready in less time than normal. Nearly stress-free, too, which was Continue reading “About that weekend vacation… (Part 1)”
On a quiet, normal day, Diesel sits in the living room playing a game with Choo-choo before leaving for work. I go out to the mudroom to start a load of dirty clothes in the washing machine. I open the dryer and washer doors. Out of the corner of my eye, I see something small and brown. I think it’s a chipmunk or squirrel that got into the house and figure I will tell Diesel about it when I take the clean clothes into the living room.
Then it moves. Not only does it move, but it Continue reading “Our unwanted “guest””
Relationships can be hard. They require hard work sometimes. They require both people to be actively involved. Yes, there are occasions when one may need to work harder than the other, usually due to extenuating circumstances. Mostly, though, spouses and significant others should be partners.
Unfortunately, this isn’t always the case. That fact makes me really sad. Diesel and I aren’t often on the same page when Continue reading “Showing kindness in relationships”
I have always dreamed of growing old together with Diesel.
It sounds like such a cliché, I know. It’s the start of one of my favorite poems: “Grow old along with me! The best is yet to be!” And yet it is still something I hope for. Continue reading “Grow old along with me!”
